Dot Moore has always loved writing and research

Dot Moore is a native of West Georgia. She moved to Montgomery with her parents when she was 14, although she was enrolled in a boarding school in another state until she graduated from high school. She is a graduate in speech and history from the University of Montevallo and has a Master’s degree from Auburn University.

Her book, Oracle of the Ages, Reflections on the Curious Life of Fortune Teller Mayhayley Lancaster was awarded the “best of local history” by the Georgia Historical Society. It has gone through three hard-backed printings and is now in paperback. It is available from NewSouth Books  in Montgomery.
Her book,  No Remorse, The Rise and Fall of John Wallace, received favorable reviews from Georgia newspapers. It was also published by NewSouth Books.

She is currently involved in research and writing for a local genealogical periodical as well as research on William Burr Howell, the father of Varina Davis, the first lady of the Confederacy.
